There will be a shuttle, free of charge, to take speakers from the hotel to the conference main venue in Quilmes.
To apply for the special room rate discount (see http://ar.pycon.org/2012/promotions/hotels), all the reservations for the conference should be confirmed with the PyCon Argentina 2012 organizers in advance. If you are interested, please contact us at pyconar2012@gmail.com in order to book the hotel rooms for you.
If you choose other option, consider to book a hotel in the center of Buenos Aires (close to Obelisco) to facilitate travel to the conference site in Universidad Nacional de Quilmes (Bernal).
How to arrive to the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes
There are several possibilities (ARS means pesos argentinos):
- Minibuses from Correo Central (Av. Corrientes between Av. Leandro N. Alem and Bouchard). The ticket costs -around- ARS 12 and the stop is Lebensohn and Dean Funes in Bernal, which is two blocks from the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes. The trip takes around 20 min. You should ask for "Universidad Nacional de Quilmes" to the driver. The trip is paid when you get off the minibus in Bernal.
- Public Bus 159 B/G (Bernal). It leaves from Av. Corrientes and Av. Eduardo Madero and has several stops through Av. Paseo Colón. The ticket costs between ARS 1.75 and ARS 2.75. The trip takes around 20/30 min and you should get off in front of the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes.
- The conference organization is negotiating with some minibus companies to facilitate the commute to the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes from Capital Federal.
Policy and Financial Aid
PyCon Argentina is a non-profit and free (as in beer) community conference.
We keep the costs low to make PyCon Argentina accessible to the
greatest audience possible.
This means that PyCon Argentina cannot offer payment to conference speakers.
Conference registration, accommodations, and transportation are the
responsibility of the speakers.
However, financial aid will be available, and speakers who pay their own way are encouraged to apply. For more information see: http://ar.pycon.org/2012/fa
